François Blanc is an eccentric,
inspired by french boulevardpainters.
He speaks in a non-existing french dialect and works, while gesticulating,
at more or less virtuoso portraits of the passing public.
But François himself attracts much more attention than his work. He touches
and excites, he is both sweet and wicked, he is a white jewel
and a moment of peace in hasty daily existence of modern man.

Steven Luca Groenen (1970) started his professional training at the prestigious “Design Academy” in Eindhoven (The Netherlands). After his study he discovered puppet theatre. From his internship with Feike Boschma, he was inspired to produce his own theatre shows. On 11 July 2003 the first performance of his very own puppet show, called “Vandaag” (Today) was brought to the public as theatre. In the meantime he developed the character “François Blanc”.
Since his enthralling performance at the street theatre festival in Châlon-sur-Saône, Steven has had requests from all over the world to come and perform his shows. He lives in the province of Antwerp (Belgium), is married with two children.
